Miracles with Angels
“My First Angel Miracle”
As a small child of 3 to 4 years old, I had begun to have nightmares. I would wake up afraid, and I would go get in bed with my mother and father, usually sleeping in the bed between them. One of my earliest memories is a memory of God providing deliverance from these nightmares. My memory goes like this: I am in my parent’s bed after awakening from a nightmare. I had gone to their bedroom and crawled in the bed between them. I look up and a man is standing beside the bed. Even though it is nighttime and dark, I can clearly see a man standing there with a light around him. He is dressed with regular clothes with a long sleeved shirt on. I look at him. In my memory I can see him with blond sandy colored hair and his eyes are piercing blue. There is a peaceful smile on his face. Even though he did not speak, it seems like I could hear him say “everything is okay”, don’t be afraid. He smiles at me. I am comforted. Somehow, I am not afraid of the stranger in the bedroom. Somehow I knew that he was not there to harm me and that he was watching over me to protect me. I am totally at peace and go to sleep.
The next morning I told my mother there was a man, a stranger in our room that night. She asked me how he looked and what he said. I described him to her the best I could and told her that I was not afraid of him. Even to this day, I can close my eyes and I can see him as he looks at me. My mother told me that he was my guardian angel. She said that every Christian had a guardian angel.
The Bible refers to them as ministering spirits who were sent to minister to the heirs of salvation. The next day she went into town [we lived on a farm in the country] and she bought a small angel at the five and dime store that was left over from a Christmas nativity scene. Just a little plaster replica of the traditional view of an angel. She brought it home to me and told me it was to remind me of my guardian angel. I kept that little statue until adulthood, and I never had another nightmare as a child.
